Flashback to 2002, when Ipecac Recordings released a Melvins studio album called Hostile Ambient Takeover. The following year, they issued a series of 7" singles with the A-side from that record, but the B-side was an exclusive track of the Melvins take on various cover songs. Since then, people have wondered, "Yo Goober, is there gonna be a follow up LP with the B-'s?" It only took 17 years to answer that question, but yes, yes there is & it's called Hostile Ambient Besides.
The cover is designed by our very own HAZE XXL keeping up with the vintage cheapo plastic mask theme of the singles with his take on the whole Nutty Mad/Weird-Ohs genre.
This is for the set of all 3 editions & here's what they are...
Nutty Psycho Edition: Orange & yellow silkscreen ink on the front cover. Vinyl is an orange & yellow pinwheel pattern. Edition limited to 100 copies.
Nutty Brains Edition: Pink & purple silkscreen ink on the front cover. Vinyl is clear green with black splatters throughout. Edition limited to 200 copies.
Nutty Splat Edition: Blue & green silkscreen ink on the front cover. Vinyl is half & half clear green & clear yellow with black splatters throughout. Edition limited to 200 copies.
Sleeves are printed on our standard tan cardstock.
Here's where things get even more interesting. There's 3 colorways of the art on the back of the sleeve & are random. That means, all the editions will have the same color mask on the front, but the backs could be either dark/light green, yellow/orange or pink/purple.
Hand-stamped with the edition numbers on the back & all will match in the set.
Pure artwork on both the front & back of the sleeve, with no titles or track listings. Ooooh, what will they be? I love surprises!
