Helmet: Born Annoying "Original Demo" 12"

*SET OF ALL 3  EDITIONS*

When writing about this release, it seemed like the best way to do it was to just use the description that Tom Hazelmyer wrote about it on social media. Here's what he said...

"So 35 years ago I did a 7” with an unknown NYC band taken from a 4 song demo. I got to see Helmet live for the first time not long after that. In the short time in between those two events they had evolved into the behemoth the world saw and heard when 'Strap It On’ LP hit the streets. In a lifetime of music experiences it was one of my most memorable for sure. One growth of a middle-aged adult time span later, here we are. The original sleeve was designed by drummer John Stanier. The austerity of it was a head scratcher to me at the time, as I was busy doing untrained ballistic vomit as my design work. It took me a while to really grasp his approach, and I think I melded John’s original vibe to my current sloppy ballistic linocut shit show art pretty well. I’m not big on “glory days” as Ive always felt there’s more ahead if you're doing life right, but I’m not so rigid as to deny some of the high water marks of the past. This was certainly among them."

With that, we're proud to present Helmet's Born Annoying "Original Demo" 12".

Sleeve is designed by HAZE XXL & is based on John Stanier's artwork on the original Born Annoying 7" single from 1989. It's silkscreened by Boxy Mouse in 3 colors of ink on both the front & back covers our standard tan chipboard sleeve.

This set includes both editions of this release. Here's what you get...

Underrated Flash Edition: Sleeve is in satin metallic mint green ink. Vinyl is cloudy blue & translucent aqua that looks like water ripples. Edition limited to 200 copies.

Underrated Crush Edition: Sleeve is in dark mint green ink. Vinyl is translucent electric aqua blue with heavy blue splatters throughout. Edition limited to 300 copies.

...And finally, there's the Underrated Nuke Edition with sleeve in glow-in-the-dark mint green ink on the front. Vinyl is the same as the ones used for the other 2 editions with a 50/50 chance of getting one or the other. Oh, the back of the sleeve is also screened in either the flat dark mint or satin metallic from those other editions, so that means even more random variants. This edition is ONLY sold in this 3-record set & will not be offered individually. It’s limited to just 50 copies.

Back of each sleeve is stamped with matching edition #s.

Catalog # is AMREP156.

Here's the tracks...

Side A

  • Born Annoying

  • Rumble

Side B

  • Shirley MacLaine

  • Geisha to Go

Something we should also mention in case it's an issue. These releases are handmade & may have slight imperfections. We have the sleeves custom made, then they're shipped to us through the meatgrinder gamble that is UPS. From there, they are run through a screenprinter anywhere from an average of 6-9 times & then are all hand stuffed with the actual records. All in all, that's a lot of handling & so there's a good chance that they're not going to looking like a gleaming shrink-wrapped sleeve from a machine at a factory.

Sweet mother of god, please pay attention to this. It's even written in red to stand out. PLEASE place everything you want into 1 ORDER.

If there are multiple orders placed from the same customers we will either combine them with no refund on postage, or they will be sent out exactly as placed.

C'mon, it's hard enough processing a couple hundred orders quickly without this AND responding to all the emails requesting combined shipping and refunds. This delays EVERY order.
